Sermon Series:
As we are rapidly approaching Christmas, it is our prayer that you will find moments to pause and rest in the joy that Jesus' advent brings. It is out hope that you will also pause and consider the challenges his advent brings as well. This Sunday we will be looking at both of these aspects in Luke 2:22-40.
Sermon Passage: Scripture: Luke 2:22-40
Sermon Outline
- Let grace on mission reveal the real Jesus who is the savior of all! (vv. 29-32)
- Let grace on mission reveal the real Jesus who divides the world! (vv. 34-35)
Questions for Discussion
- As we talked about often serving a Jesus of our own making, how have you done that in your own life and what corrected your thinking?
- Has the audacity of Jesus potentially being the savior of anybody hit you? How do you come to grips with that?
- Has the scandal of Jesus dividing the world really impacted you? Do you love him or hate him, or are you trying to sit in that illusionary middle ground?
- How might you bring the news that Jesus can save anyone but also divides the world into your sphere of accountability and influence?
- What is one thing that God wants you to remember, do, or change in response to what you heard today?
