Sermon Series:
This week, Eric Byrom, our presiding elder, continues to take us through 1 Corinthians. Today's message is over an interesting passage that not everyone enjoys hearing or possibly preaching about, but like all other verses are good for understanding God's love for us.
Sermon Outline
Passage: 1 Corinthians 11:2-34
- Gather together to celebrate God as men and women! (v. 2-16)
- Gather together to celebrate communion with the right heart! (v. 17-34)
Questions for discussion
- What ways has God been speaking to you this week?
- Why is the distinction between male and female so important in the church? What are we at risk of losing if we remove those distinctions?
- How can men and women express mutual respect and value for each other while retaining these distinctions?
- What is the underlying meaning to communion? Why is it important to remember that as we do partake in communion?
- What are modern ways that people in church express elitism towards other believers in the church?
- What is one thing God is moving in you to do, change or remember in response to what you heard today?
