Sermon Series:
This first week of January 2022, presiding elder Eric Byrom wants us to consider how our life affects others
Sermon Outline
Take care how your life affects others!
- Take care how your life affects others because your purpose is in God through Christ. (v. 6)
- Take care how your life affects others because your belonging is through Christ and not through anything else. (v. 11)
- Take care how your life affects others because your freedom is best seen in serving others not yourself. (v. 13)
Questions
- What has God been doing in you and through you this past week?
- In what ways does your purpose in life affect how you live? How might a stronger sense of our purpose being for God through Christ affect our lives this week?
- What are things you are tempted to find your belonging in other than Christ? Why do you think that finding your belonging in things other than in Christ can be a stumbling block both to yourself and to others? Can you think of any real-life examples of this from your experiences?
- In what ways have you seen Christian freedom resulting in a stumbling block to others? How might we not restrict other’s freedom unnecessarily but also be aware of how our freedom can be dangerous both to ourselves and others?
- What is one thing God wants you to remember, do or change in response to what you heard today?
