Sermon Series:
This week, Pastor Eric Byrom brings us another installment of the Book of Hebrews. These are some very dense verses that hold a lot of life principles for living the Christian walk. Please take some time to slowly read through the verses several times and ask God to direct you to His word for you from them.
Sermon Passage: Hebrews 4:14-16
Sermon Outline
- Make every effort to have Jesus be your great high priest by holding fast to our confession!
- Make every effort to have Jesus be your great high priest by remembering that he can empathize with our weaknesses!
- Make every effort to have Jesus be your great high priest by drawing near to the throne of grace!
Questions for Discussion
- What does it mean to view Jesus as your great high priest versus as your prophet?
- What is the confession to which the writer of Hebrews continually refers? Can you understand what this is and means for you from the context? Have you made that confession?
- How can Jesus in every respect be tempted as we are? What does that mean? How have you felt his comfort towards you in your weakness?
- What does it look like in life to draw near to the throne of grace with confidence? In what ways do you regularly do this?
- How have you received mercy and found grace to help you at just the right moment from God? Share some accounts or stories of how this has happened in your life.
- What is one thing that God wants you to remember, do or change in response to what you heard today?
