Sermon Series:
This week, pastoral elder Jadae Fox concludes our Advent season with a message on how to let God change how you think of marriage, sex, and singleness.
The call: Let God change how you think of marriage and sex and singleness
I. Let God change how you think of marriage and sex.
II. Let God change how you think of singleness.
III. Let God change how you decide if you get married or not.
Study/Discussion Questions
1. How has the view of marriage and sex changed from Paul’s day and today? How is the same?
2. In what ways should the Christians’ view of marriage and sex be different?
3. What are some of the negative connotations applied to single life?
4. Our culture elevates the pursuit of romance and happiness and links it to self-worth. Where does our true happiness and self-worth come from?
5. How does right thinking on happiness and self-worth affect how…
A) We relate to those who are single?
B) Single people think of themselves?
6. How can the church support and value those who are single? (Going contrary to our culture)
7. In what ways could playing matchmaker make things harder for someone who is single?
8. What are some things we should consider when we decide if God has Called us to be married of single?
9. How can we encourage those who are single but don’t feel called to the “gift of singleness” (See 1 Cor. 7:7)
Whether we get married or not is a very important decision. Either can be a God honoring decision. The question is… what will best help to be devoted to God?
