Sermon Series:

This week, pastoral elder  will be continuing our series on Keys to Freedom by looking at "Healing Life's Hurts".

Sermon Passage:

  • Psalm 147:3
  • Hebrews 4:14-16
  • Psalm 91:4

Sermon Outline:

  • Healing life’s hurts is the process of inviting the Lord into the hurts of our lives and allowing Him to heal us from the inside out!
  • The definition of heal is: “to make sound or whole.”
  • Jesus is fully committed to out healing process.
  • Healing life’s hurts is the process of inviting Jesus into our memories and getting His perspective.
  • An important aspect of this key is allowing Him to bring up the memories that He desires to bring up through the Holy Spirit.
  • When you know how to hear from the Lord and how to process a hurt with Him, you will be equipped to do that for any memory or hurt that the Lord brings to mind in the future.

Discussion/Study Questions

  1. What stood out to you in the sermon this week?  Were there any concepts that were new to you?
  2. Why do you think suffering a deep hurt can have such a powerful effect on everyday life even years later?
  3. Think of some ways people might experience hurt, and name some roots that might grow because of those hurts.
  4. Has anyone ever been guided through a prayer to process with the Lord something that hurt you?  If so, what was the experience like?  If not, how do you feel when you think about facing your past hurts in this way?
  5. Has anyone already identified a past hurt in your life that the Lord wants to heal?  If so, are you willing to share?
