Sermon Outline
Don’t be afraid, Jesus can be trusted.
- Don’t be afraid, Jesus can be trusted in the storm.
- Don’t be afraid, Jesus can be trusted to deliver you.
- Don’t be afraid, Jesus can be trusted to deliver others.
Discussion/Study Questions
- How have you encountered God this week? Was it a good encounter or a sobering encounter?
- Have you gone through a storm in your life where God seemed to be asleep? How did it make you feel? What was your response to God?
- Put yourself in the shoes of the demoniac of chapter 5. What demons are holding your captive? Do you resist Jesus’ healing because you are comfortable with them? What might it look like to be free?
- Put yourself in the shoes of the healed demoniac. What might it feel like to be told to go back to the society that rejected you and share how much God has done for you and how he has had mercy on you? Do you think that might bring healing and change to that community?
- What might it look like if you didn’t live in fear of storms, personal demons and the rejection of society? What is God asking you to embrace as you consider this?
