This morning, Jon Vega spoke on Daniel 8 in regards of focus and distraction

Study/Discussion Questions

  1. The meaning of the vision comes from a known and trusted source, Gabriel (v. 16). Who are some of the people we have turned to for spiritual guidance at pivotal moments of your life? Why? Was it always a wise decision?
  2. Is verse eighteen referencing raising from death (deep sleep, ex. Psalm 76:5-6)? ...or is he simply treating him with dignity and making sure he pays attention? Either way, God's messengers raise up and dignify, not humiliate, kill, and trample.
  3. Verses 23-25 refocus the reader, not on the fighters or the fight, but on the true power moving all things. If it isn't the king or other humans, who is he referencing? Why is that important in life? Why is that important today and tomorrow?
  4. The vision's story ends with, "Then I got up and went about the [earthly] king's business." Why does Daniel include it? What does that mean for you?
