Sermon Series:
This week, pastoral elder Robert Key walks us through a difficult to understand topic of tongues and the interpretation of tongues. Listen for these points:
- Tongues are a language
- Tongues are a sign
- Tongues are for edification
For further reflection, consider these questions:
- According to 1 Corinthians 13:8-12 when will the spiritual gifts cease? {Hint: To what is the “perfect” in verse 8 referring? [The perfection to be seen when Christ returns, when we see Him face to face. (verse 12)]}.
- How has Speaking in Tongues been a blessing in your life?
- Do you have any testimonies related to any of the gifts functioning in your own life that you would like to share?
- How would you encourage a believer in their desire for some of these gifts who had not experienced any of them yet?
- If someone speaks out in tongues in church, and there is no interpretation, what might have gone wrong? (possibilities: the tongue speaker was out of order, the interpreter failed to speak out, the leadership neglected to wait for the interpretation, others?)
- If you could have any of the gifts listed in 1 Corinthians 12:7-11 that you wanted, which would it be? Why?
- What would it take to get you to the place in your relationship with the Lord where that would be a possibility?
